Schlammball is basically a combination of soccer and handball, and there are six goals. Lots of scoring equals tons of fun. Watch out you might get put in the “Schlammer”!
We hope to get a league started this summer. We are looking for energetic people who don’t mind learning a new, and exciting sport. Say goodbye to soccer and HELLO to Schlammball.
Schlammball will best be played with mud pits on the sides at center field, but the mud pits are not necessary. As long as the lines are painted, it’s GAME ON! It is up to the players if they want to make it a contact sport or not. It can be played with contact in the Schlamm zones or without.
You can even play in a contact game and as long as you stay out of the Schlamm zones you will never be touched. The Schlamm Zones are the ONLY area on the field where someone can intentionally touch another player. There should be less contact than soccer other than within the Schlamm Zones, making it a great game to play for recreation with mixed gender teams.
Throwing and kicking the ball is allowed in Schlammball.
No head hits or running with the ball while holding it. No grabbing the ball out of a player’s hands. If you have the ball you must kick it or throw it within 3 secs.
With three nets to choose from and an aggressive neutral zone for cherry pickers, there should be lots of scoring chances. 2 points for the main goal, 1 points for the side goals.
There are a few other specifics to learn about game play, but that is the basic game!
If you would like to start a league in your area let us know and we will try to help out with getting it started.
